Tape libraries (sometimes called a tape silo or tape jukebox) are a storage device which contains one or more tape drives, a number of slots to hold tape cartridges, a barcode reader to identify tape cartridges and an automated method / robot for loading tapes. These devices can store immense amounts of data.
Smaller tape libraries with only one drive and robot are known as autoloaders.
Tape Libraries form part of an overall Data Management Strategy and are often used as DR tools as the tape media can be removed and taken off site. Data written to tape can be restored back to its orignal server, storage device or workstation in the event of any data loss.
NexStor supply tape Libraries from some of the worlds largest tape vendors including Quantum, Overland, HP and IBM. Call NexStor today to discuss your tape backup requirements
