Hitachi Resource Manager

The Hitachi Resource Manager utility package provides essential functions for the management of individual Hitachi storage systems. It also contains an advanced set of software tools for third-party application integration and optimization. Available in both modular and enterprise configurations, it is required to enable the full feature set offered by Hitachi storage systems.

Resource Manager utility package provides a Web-accessible graphical management interface and, on modular systems, it includes a command line interface (CLI) to allow easy management of Hitachi storage. It is used to map security levels for SAN ports and virtual ports, for inter-array path mapping and RAID-level configurations, for logical unit number (LUN) expansion and for Data Retention Utility LUN configurations, for example, WORM (write once, read many) configuration. It also includes performance management and troubleshooting capabilities for the storage system.

Depending on the storage system being managed, Resource Manager utility package supports and configures storage for both mainframe and open systems and includes tools to enhance third-party application integration including: simple network management protocol (SNMP) agents and management information bases (MIBs) for Hitachi storage systems, Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) support for Microsoft Exchange, and network data management protocol (NDMP) support.
