Open Storage Consolidation
RELDATA 9200 Gateway features vendor-agnostic storage resource interoperability and consolidation. Most, if not all, leading Fibre Channel and SCSI disk array and tape library products are compatible with RELDATA 9200. The support of software RAID levels 1, 4 and 5 enables cost-effective, scalable growth of redundant storage capacity using simple JBOD arrays, and not requiring the deployment of sophisticated RAID arrays. The value of the Fibre Channel SANs already in place can be further maximized by opening their capacity and data to the organization’s TCP/IP networks.
Unified SAN & NAS Storage Provisioning over IP
RELDATA 9200 is paving the way towards a unified, scalable and seamless IP SAN & NAS capacity provisioning. In line with the requirements of organization’s Windows, Linux or Unix applications, RELDATA 9200 provides dedicated block-level iSCSI target volumes, or CIFS and NFS file systems from a central virtualized storage volume pool. This hybrid storage provisioning approach in combination with boot-over-IP allows the operation of client and server systems based only on network storage, avoiding a tedious process of matching storage product capabilities to known application performance requirements and eliminating any need for the direct attached storage.
Extensive Data Protection Management
RELDATA 9200 includes support for a variety of data protection strategies based on redundancy and replication. Point-in-time snapshots, mirroring and replication capabilities on both block- and file-level included with the product facilitate straightforward solutions for disaster recovery, contingency and data sharing challenges. Serverless disk-to-tape backup is supported via NDMP. In addition to data redundancy management, RELDATA 9200 provides data transfer (in-flight) security via IPsec encryption and CHAP authentication. The NAS services are fully integrated with both Network Information Services (NIS) and Active Directory Services for centralized authentication and quota management.
High Performance & Availability
The enterprise-class I/O performance of RELDATA 9200 Gateway is supported by four 1GbE ports capable of teaming, and a dual 3 GHz Intel processor board in a hyper-threading mode. The appliance provides a flexible, out-of-the-box storage connectivity by two 2Gbs Fibre Channel ports and two Ultra320 SCSI ports. A fully redundant 600W power supply is guaranteeing continuous operations of the appliance. The appliance reliability is further improved by eliminating the internal hard disk drive. The hardened RAM-only Linux firmware is stored on and loaded from an integrity-protected flashcard. High availability features protect RELDATA 9200 in case of hardware failure. Configuration data and metadata are periodically replicated across other appliances, and are backed up on a USB-stick, so that a replacement appliance can be started up rapidly whenever the running appliance fails. In a redundant appliance configuration, RELDATA 9200 delivers active-passive failover (per service) and load balancing features, maximizing data and application availability.
Ready to Store
The RELDATA 9200 is a «plug & play» appliance supporting instant configuration from the front panel TFT screen. A comprehensive, easy-to-use Java Management Console allows a secure local and remote administration of all appliance functions from a standard Web Browser. The simplified flat-price policy of RELDATA 9200 is avoiding a feature decision process and establishes a worldwide leading price/performance ratio in the unified IP SAN/NAS gateway market, bringing IP network access to consolidated block- and file-level storage not only to high-end enterprise networks, but also to the 70% of the IT market untouched by traditional SANs, with an extremely short payback period – simply NETWORK STORAGE FOR EVERYONE
